Hirani started releasing poster and production stills through Twitter
. The first poster was released on 30 April 2018 in which Kapoor looked as Sanjay Dutt when he first came out of jail in 2016
. The next day, another poster was released showcasing another still of Kapoor as Dutt in 2016 leaving Yerwada jail.
Subsequently, more posters were released portraying Kapoor as Dutt from the 90s and 2003 when the films Rocky and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S were released respectively.

The film's soundtrack features songs composed by A.R. Rahman, Amaal Mallik, Rohan-Rohan, and Vikram Montrose. It was reported that Amaal Mallik will be recreating the song "Kya Yehi Pyar Hai" from the film Rocky. The lyrics for the original song were written by Anand Bakshi and it was composed by R. D. Burman. Armaan Malik will sing the new version
